Trial
The free week you get when you first pay for a domain
The first time you become the subscriber of a domain, you get a free trial: one week on a service plan, with nothing to pay and no payment details to give.
Starting the trial
The trial starts by itself the first time you become a subscriber, whichever of the two ways that happens:
- you create a domain, or
- you take over the subscription of a domain you co-own.
It’s once per user. Being added as an owner of a domain somebody else pays for starts no trial, so a user who only ever co-owns other people’s domains never spends theirs.
Your Profile shows the trial’s plan and dates while it runs.
Ending the trial
The trial ends after a week, and you’re emailed two days before it does. When it ends, your domains are no longer covered, and enter a grace period of another week before they stop serving comments: that’s the time you have to choose a plan.
You don’t have to wait for the trial to run out: buying a plan — the trial’s own plan, or any other — ends the trial the moment the payment arrives, and the paid period starts then. Unused trial days aren’t carried over. A checkout you abandon halfway leaves the trial as it was.
